Reason for service: Customer reported that the thermostat went blank and would only operate the fan.
Began assessment by verifying voltage was present to the thermostat, the thermostat is receiving voltage. This thermostat has failed and will need to be replaced to continue operation. Continued assessment, all three heating elements tested within parameters. The blower motor is an ECM motor, I informed customer to be using throwaway filters to avoid motor failure, and also recommended opening up another return to increase airflow to avoid costly blower motor failures. The evaporator coil does have a build up of dust on it, customer stated he would rinse everything off to help the system. Went outdoors, the condenser coil appears clean. Checked condenser fan motor bearings, which have no play and the motor is in good condition. The dual run capacitor tested within specifications,, he contactor relay is in good condition.
